About Me

Samantha has worked in gardens since 2003, and was dipped in chlorophyll at an early age, growing up with the inspiration and knowledge of her grandfather Professor E N Willmer who re designed the Fellows Garden at Clare college in 1947 and who's beautiful garden in Grantchester was Samantha's playground, influencing her journey into horticulture hugely. She completed the RHS level 2 certificate in horticulture in 2005 and has worked professionally first as a gardener then moving into design and then on to garden retail where she ran a very successful planting design service and amassed a significant

knowledge of plant species and varieties. She also learned what it is that people had concerns about in their own gardens and provided the answers to the many different queries on a daily basis.

Always working in private gardens throughout she wants to share the knowledge gained, to enthuse and empower people about their outdoor spaces so they will be able to enjoy them to the full.

“Having worked in this field for many years I have realised the significance of working with the soil conditions and the aspect of a garden. We are all now realising the importance of soil health and the need to treat it with respect as it makes the difference between happy or unhappy plants and can also mean leaving the use of pesticides and artificial feeds behind. I feel very strongly that by choosing the right plants and helping the soil structure you can not only enjoy beautiful borders but also help build a self-sustaining ecosystem within the garden keeping your plants healthy and encouraging our beneficial insects and other friendly species. I also have a commitment to working peat free”
